An expressive narrative piece. Loose, layered mark making brings a richness and depth to the piece, framing a detailed heron, frozen in time, creating a visual narrative. I like to paint the backgrounds to my pieces in one setting, alla prima, blending colours and forming abstract shapes before adding an intricate subject, entwined and camouflaged into the works.
