THE ARTIST

Hello, I am Angela Murray.

I have had the pleasure of leading and curating collections within luxury Hospitality and Residential spaces, creating bespoke paintings and introducing my existing portfolio into private collections for the last decade.

​After graduating from Winchester School of Art and then completing an MA at the RCA, I spent a number of years working within design led interiors before Founding Quote & Curate as a Studio and Consultancy for Fine Art. Locating my Studio at The Design Centre, Chelsea Harbour, has allowed me to paint full-time within an environment of creatives, surrounded by daily inspiration from some of the worlds most renowned interior brands, that ultimately informs my own work.

As a painter of semi-abstract art across genres, I am influenced by landscape as much as interior spaces and create paintings that are both referential and intimate, with colour relationships and the joy of surface pattern very much at the fore.

When not working on a specific commission I will arrange a still life in the studio as a focal point while also adding places and objects from memory, working spontaneously and intuitively building the composition. My preferred surface is linen and I work directly into the surface of the material, using the flax texture as colour to inform the work on a constant basis. Drawing never stops in the art I make and is the first and the last mark made.
