This large painting was commissioned by Russell Sage Studio as a bespoke and exclusive work of art for the prestigious WOW!House2026 at Chelsea Harbour. The painting was part of a series of 3 and the largest of the triptych at 115 x 100cm
 
It took a number of weeks to complete with its complex layers of pigment, built up over gilded Irish Linen using gold leaf.
Cold wax was then applied by hand to create additional translucent layers using oil paint and the surface polished with the palette knife to seal the art.
 
Inspired by landscape and seascape, Heaney's poetry and the amazing space that it was installed in, which was the calmest of havens, a space that was immersive and exquisitely designed by the Team at Russell Sage.
